Was stopped from joining up until his apprenticeship was finished. Enlisted Royal Australian Navy 1942. Served on corvettes and HMAS Australia. Seved in World War 2 (Pacific theatre) and Korea (HMAS Sydney, Tobruk and others). Was an Ordninace Artificer.

Ashes scattered at Garden Island 18th April 2004.

Worked in Sheffield during the war. Worked at Darwin's. They made bomb stuff. Volunteer relief for fire service. Nightwatch at local shops.

Arrived in Australia in 1950 aboard the Chitral. Getting a bit fed up at home. Saw a advert saying that you could go to the south of England for 10 pounds. Then met Lorraine (a friend of Auntie Rowena's) from Australia, and decided to come out for the same price.

Scattered her ashes at Earlwood Bowling Club on 24th September 2008.

Met Alice Ruth Law through Frank Law. They enlisted and were in the same tent. Frank took Harry home and met Alice.

Moved to Sunshine after the war into a soldier settlement.

Worked at McKay's Sunshine Harvester Works until retirement.

Enlisted 1st AIF 7th December 1914. Assigned to 4/14th Battalion. Number 1720. The 4 meant he was the 4th reinforcement group. Was captured in the assault at Hill 971. His company went left around a hill, while the main force went right. They walked into a group of Turks and had no option but to surrender. Missing in action 8th August 1915 at Gallipoli. Repatriated to England 8th December 1918. Returned to Australia 12th May 1919.
